Arsenal Discs- Cody Berman Q and A
The Disc Golf world has many companies that make discs. Innova, Discraft, Discmania, Latitude 64, etc. but there are so many more out there. Just like my conversation with Kastaplast, I wanted to know more about the companies that we may not know about. So, I searched out and found a company named Arsenal Discs that is making a great start to this venture. I got to ask the Co-founder Vody Berman some questions and i hope you enjoy the answers!
1) How did Arsenal Discs get its start?
I had been playing disc golf for nearly 10 years and really thought I could make some impact on the game if somehow I could make a material impact. With my background in Finance and Economics, I knew I needed a business partner with knowledge in Engineering and Plastics. Long story short, James and I have been working together ever since in an attempt to create the best discs in the industry.
2) What makes you guys different than other companies?
For our initial launch, we wanted to stay conservative and stay well within PDGA guidelines. We analyzed successful discs on the market and conducted lab testing to see what exactly made these molds successful. In creating our discs, we attempted to incorporate all of these successful characteristics by making improvements to designs already on the market. We also focused on launching an initial line of discs that can handle well for nearly every level of experience. Many new companies start with drivers that are so overstable that only the top 5% of players can successfully control its flight.
3) How do you guys Sponsor players?
Currently we have made no sponsorship decisions. We want to get things rolling with our disc line before we commit to any sponsorships. Players can apply for individual sponsorships or event sponsorships through our website at www.arsenaldiscs.com.

6) What's discs do you recommend people trying out from Arsenal Discs?
For a beginner to intermediate player, the 50 Cal and Cyborg are great. The Air Strike is a bit faster and more overstable. The Morningstar and C4 are great pickups for any skill level.
7) How long does it take to come up with a new disc?
To design a new disc takes several months, but the entire process from design to mold creation to manufacturing can take nearly a full year.
8) Any new discs coming out soon?
We've been toying around with some novel disc designs, but these are currently in the prototype stage. Our current focus is to promote our existing line.
9) What made you want to make discs?
Having control over the designs, features and appearances of discs was extremely intriguing to us. Seeing our creation come to life is an amazing experience, especially when we have the support of such an awesome community.
10) Any advice for people who want to start their own company making discs?
Something can go wrong at every step of the way. We have faced more hurdles than I could have ever imagined. It definitely takes a lot of grit and determination. Almost nothing ever goes exactly as planned.
11) What would you like the people to know about the company that they may not know?
